Table

I bought this coffee table today at a boot sale for £4! bargain! i also bought a crystal bowl for 50p that i could put on top of the table. It ties in with the art deco style of the table and im really glad i found it! i am also on the look out for picture frames. For the image of the women with a feather boa i thought i could just search for an image on the internet and put it in the frame. For the picture of gregor in the army i have a black and white photo of my grandad in the army that i will use for it. Hope everyone is having a good easter :)

Making the flats

To create the flats, Henry showed us how fix the main frames together and to attach the skin. We all worked out how big each flat needed to be and cut up the pieces of wood ready to be attached together. We made the main frame by drilling holes ino the ends of each pieces of wood and use a screw and drill to screw them together. We then added the centre beams that would make the frame a bit more sturdy. To add the skins on which was a thin piece of ply wood, we first added wood glue to the edges of the frame and layed the sheet on top. We then used a nail gun to secure the skin in place. Its a very simple process and we all assigned ourselves tasks to complete so we could work like clockwork.

Rooms sizes

These are the measurements all all flats needed for the set. We marked them out as A, B, C etc so we can work out which wall is what when building. We worked out the measurements and how many of each flat we would need. This diagram shows the letters for each asigned wall.
A = 2@4'
B = 1'6" , 2'6"(H), 2@4
F = 2' (H), 2'(F), 2@4', 2'
C = 2', 2'6"(H), 2@4', 3'6"
D = 2@3' , 2', 2@2' (H) ,2@2' (F)
E = 2@2' , 2@4' , 2@1' , Fireplace wall
G = 4@3'6", 2@5'(H)

H= header, F= footer

amount of each
4' = 10
3'6" = 5
3' = 2
2'= 5
1'6" = 1
1 = 2

H
5' = 2
2'6 = 1
2' = 3

F
2' = 3

Monday 11th April.building flats

These are photos that i took from the near completion of the build of the flats for our set. We all worked really well as a group that day and were left with very little to complete before the easter holidays.

Metamorphosis

I found these images on the internet of a set design project where there theme was the metamorphosis.i thought it could give us some inspiration to see the sort of thing other people have had to do.

I really like the photography in this one, the yellowish light that shines through the window gives it a really eerie effect which is just what we are trying to create with our set

Photography Ideas

I was thinking about how the end photo should look to portray the right feelings. I thought that the photo should be taken from the living room with the camera facing through the double doors in to gregors room. The window that is in gregors room i thought could be quite dirty, but with some areas that have been wiped away for gregor to look through, so that the light would only pass through these areas. In the story only one of the double doors is ever open so looking through this one open door with the other being bolted shut gives the feel that something is going on within the room.

AutoCAD

Im finding autocad really difficult to work with. I have done the best i can to create the design of the table.

i tried to make it look a bit more 3D but it didnt turn out too well. I just drew out the simple shape of it, i havent added any details.
