Images from on going sketchbook for this unit

I created a sketchbook of images and sketches that have influenced me throughout this unit. I took photos of the pages in the sketchbook to be uploaded on to this blog.

This was the plan of the 2 rooms with the measurements added.

These were my drawings and ideas at the beginning of the unit.

these were images of a metamorphism play that was performed in australia that I used as a main influence.

these are images from the behind the scenes of the alice in wonderland film. The settings were of great influence and the image of the green patterned wallpaper if a very similar design to the wallpaper we have used in gregors room.

Nearing the end of the unit

Over the last few days I have been unable to go in to uni due to family problems.But I have been trying to keep up to date with what has been going on. I have seen photos of the furniture that has been made and I'm really proud of what everyone has done! The unit ends on the 27th and the photos will be taken on the last week. All that needs to be completed is the film review and printed images of the finalised photos of our set. The wallpaper has all been put up in the 2 rooms and most furniture is completed. I'm looking forward to setting out all the furniture and props in the 2 rooms ready for the photos to be taken.

It was good to come in today to see that people had already started putting the wallpaper up in the living room! the wallpaper was great and works really well in the living room.we worked on it most of the day to get the whole room done and we finally managed it.In gregors room the room was painted but lumps were left to make it look dirty and old. Wood dust was put on to it to give it more texture and it started to look really good! wallpaper will be put on top and parts will be ripped to reveal this textured surface underneath. Certain areas of the wallpaper in the living room will be ripped and torn to give the look that it has been there for a long time. We have 2 weeks left to complete the set and the props and i think we will manage it. It was also decided that we wouldnt be moving the set to maidstone so the photos will be taken at the uni. I cant wait to see the finished set and see all our hardwork come together. :)

Photo frames

I am very happy with the completed frame with the photo in! I bought a black frame and spray painted it gold. I also found the image of the women on the internet.it was very difficult trying to find the right image but i think the one i found fits perfectly! the picture of gregor in the army is an old picture of my grandad in the army and it fits in very well with the frame. I will sand the frame and maybe staining the wood so it fits in with the wood on my coffee table. Im very happy with the outcomes :) i shall be bringing in all items that i have made, and purchased in to uni tomorrow.

Here are a few images from thursdays effort.We managed to get the rest of the walls up which we were all very pleased about! It is now time to mainly focus on our individual pieces.I cut down my table to a proper coffee table size and im going to sand it down and maybe distress it a bit more. i have also managed to get a few more props.I have a vase that is more towards the right era than the previous image of a vase that i posted.I managed to find a sugar bowl and 4 glasses that will look great on the dining table! i also found 4 plates with a design on it. here is a picture of it but i dont know if they are the right style? i will be taking them in to uni tomorrow too see what the rest of my group think of everything :)  

Props For Set

I bought a glass bowl that i will put on top of the coffee table with fruit or something in it.I also have a glass vase that i think would look really nice in the living room. I have purcahsed the 2 picture frames.One is black that i will spray paint gold for the gilded frame in gregors room and i have plain picture frame with an image of my grandad in the army to represent gregor to put in the living room. I have also found 2 images of a image of a lady in fur hat with a fur boa and fur muff to put in the frame.

Fitting all the flats together. 3/5/2011

Today was the first day back after the easter holiday. all the flats were completed before the holidays so it was now time to fit them all together to finally create the set shape. We worked extremely well as a team today and managed to get most of the set up. We had to take down the tables that were in our room as they were taking up much needed space for our set to fit in to. We created wood supports for the backs of the flats so that it made the structure more secure.
